Myth: "$2.95/month is a steal for hosting this good."
That's a 36-month-prepaid honeymoon rate. Renewal is $11-16/month, and they quietly bill it as one lump charge to a card you forgot was on file. The longer the discount, the steeper the cliff.
Why structure it this way? Because inertia is the most profitable retention tool ever invented. Moving is annoying, so you pay the markup.
Do the 3-year total before you celebrate the first-year price.
Reality: you didn't find a deal, you signed a loan against your own laziness.
