Run the backup restore drill before you need it
They told you: "daily backups included." Included, until restoring costs $150 or the backup is empty.
— Don't trust the toggle. Delete a test file, then actually restore it today.
— Time-stamp the restore. "Daily" backups that are 9 days old are theater.
— Read the fine print: many hosts charge a "restore fee" or only keep one copy.
— Pull a backup off their server entirely. A backup on the same disk that died is a coin flip.
Follow the money: backups are upsold as "premium" because the free one is bait.
Reality: a backup you've never restored is a rumor.
