"Free migration" is bait, not a service
They told you: "Switch to us — we'll migrate your site free, zero hassle."
Free often means one site, by an offshore queue, on their schedule, with no rollback if it breaks. Custom configs, cron jobs, mail, and anything outside a vanilla install get dropped or quoted as "out of scope."
The real cost isn't the migration. It's the renewal you're locked into and the exit fee of doing it all again.
Follow the money: free migration is customer acquisition, expensed against a 2-year contract.
Reality: they didn't move your site for free, they moved you into a cage for free.
