Myth: More impressions on a placement means more exposure.
No. Auto-refresh manufactures impressions while one bored human stares at a recipe. Audit it:
— Open the placement, sit on it 60 seconds, count ad reloads in DevTools network tab
— Divide reported impressions by unique users — a ratio above 6 screams refresh
— Check the refresh interval; under 15 seconds is non-viewable by definition
— Ask whether each refresh resets viewability to 'fresh' (it usually does, fraudulently)
— Compare CPM-adjusted cost per unique reach, not per impression
Allegedly you're getting volume. You're getting the same eyeball billed eight times. Why pay for impression number five when impression number one already failed to convert?
