A helper leaderboard tripled member-to-member answers
In a 3,200-member SEO group, the founder answered most questions — a bottleneck. We launched a points system rewarding members for helping each other, with a public monthly leaderboard. Member-answered questions went from 24% to 71% of all questions in 6 weeks.
The points SOP:
— ☐ Original poster marks one reply as "solved" (gives the helper 5 points)
— ☐ Mod can award bonus points for exceptional answers
— ☐ Monthly leaderboard pinned; top 3 get a role + event perk
— ☐ Points reset quarterly so newcomers can climb
The design choice that mattered: only the ASKER awards points, not reactions. That rewards genuinely helpful answers, not loud ones. The founder went from answering 50/week to 12, and response times improved because more people were racing to help.
Save this for your next launch.
