Case study: $500 for the files they assumed were free
Raw footage = the original, unedited clips before you cut them together. Brands sometimes want these to make their own edits later.
Giving raw files means handing over material they can reuse forever, in ways you can't control. That's extra value leaving your hands.
A creator finished a $900 deal. The brand asked: "Can you also send the raw clips?" — as if it were a small favor.
She replied: "Raw footage is available as an add-on for $500." The brand decided the edited version was enough and skipped it. Either way, she wasn't giving assets away free.
The lesson: raw files are a product, not a freebie.
Your move: when asked for raw footage, name a price. Never just send them over.
