The downsell is where your blocked-card revenue hides
Everyone builds the upsell path. Few build the downsell — and it's free money from people who ALREADY wanted to buy.
Two downsells worth wiring in:
— Exit-on-upsell: they declined the 6-bottle upsell? Offer a single-bottle add at a tiny price before the thank-you page.
— Declined-checkout: cart abandon on price? Trigger a 1-bottle "just try it" SMS/email within the hour.
These buyers raised their hand and then balked at quantity or price, not the product. The downsell catches the balk.
Stop treating "no" to the upsell as "no" to everything.
