MYTH: Joining a "successful enterprise SaaS" program is a smart move
Everyone wants to promote the logo everyone's heard of. For affiliates, mature enterprise SaaS is frequently the worst payout structure in the market.
Reality check:
— Enterprise deals close through sales reps and procurement. Self-serve, the only path you can actually influence, is a thin slice or doesn't exist.
— These companies often run affiliate programs as an afterthought with stingy, capped commissions, because affiliates aren't their growth engine.
— The brand keyword is already saturated; you're fighting their own paid ads and a Wikipedia-level SERP.
The affiliate sweet spot is product-led, self-serve SaaS with a credit-card checkout: the buyer decides alone, your content is the deciding factor, and the commission isn't an afterthought.
Verdict: famous brand, forgettable check.
