The correction: a roadmap is a list of intentions until each item has an owner, a trigger, and a definition-of-done. Boxes on a timeline don't execute themselves.
SOP: Turning a roadmap item into work
Run this whenever a roadmap box is supposed to start.
Stage 1 — Assign
— ☐ Name the single Accountable owner for the item. (Owner: planner)
— ☐ Write the trigger that says it's time to start. (Owner: planner)
Stage 2 — Define done
— ☐ Write the binary done-criteria; "shipped" is not a criterion. (Owner: item owner)
— ☐ List the first 3 concrete steps. (Owner: item owner)
Stage 3 — Track
— ☐ Put the item where work actually lives, not just the roadmap slide. (Owner: item owner)
Owner: planner then item owner. Trigger: a roadmap box comes due. Done-when: the box has an owner, a trigger, and binary done-criteria.
Save this. Run it every time.
