SOP: Quarterly broken affiliate link check
Run this on the first Monday of every quarter.
Stage 1 — Crawl
☐ Run a link crawler across all money pages (Owner: SEO owner)
☐ Export every 404, redirect chain, and dead merchant link
☐ Flag links pointing to discontinued offers
Stage 2 — Verify revenue links
☐ Click-test the top 20 pages by revenue by hand
☐ Confirm each affiliate link still carries your ID after redirects
☐ Check for expired promo URLs and stale coupon codes
Stage 3 — Fix and log
☐ Replace dead merchant links with the closest live offer
☐ Update or remove pages for offers that no longer exist
☐ Log the date and the count fixed for next quarter's diff
Owner: SEO owner. Trigger: start of quarter. Done-when: the top 20 revenue pages are hand-verified and every dead link has a fix or a removal logged.
