Turn off the checkbox LinkedIn ticks for you
New to LinkedIn Ads? When you build an audience, there's a box already checked called Audience Expansion.
It sounds helpful: 'reach people similar to your audience.' In reality it lets LinkedIn show your ads to folks outside the targeting you carefully built, to spend your budget faster.
For beginners testing whether an audience even works, this pollutes your data. You can't tell if results came from your real target or LinkedIn's 'similar' guesses.
Think of it like ordering a specific coffee and the barista adding 'similar drinks' to your tab.
Next step: in your audience setup, find Audience Expansion and uncheck it for now. Get clean results first. You can test expansion later, on purpose.
