My open-loop stacking method for longer holds
Let me tell you what happened with a true-crime-style script that had one good hook and then nothing pulling forward. Here's the stacking method. Step one: write the main loop in line one. Step two: plant a second, smaller loop at 0:10 that you only close at the end. Step three: never close a loop without opening the next one.
Before: single loop, retention dropped off a cliff at 0:12, from 66% to 31%.
After: at 0:10 I added "and the part with the receipt is what got him caught," then didn't pay it off until 0:24.
The result: 0:24 retention rose from 19% to 44%, full watches doubled.
The principle: one loop holds for ten seconds. Stack a second before the first closes and you carry them to the end.
