The DM blast after a like
Everyone says: "Everyone who engages is a warm lead — DM them your offer."
The claim: a reaction is buying intent, so pitch the engager immediately.
What's actually true: a like is a 0.4-second reflex, not a hand-raise. The mistake is the automated 'Thanks for the like, here's my calendar' DM — it's the single fastest way to get muted and to teach LinkedIn your account triggers ignore-signals. Tested fix: if someone leaves a real comment (not a like), reply in-thread first, build a couple of exchanges, then DM referencing the actual conversation. Comment-then-DM with context converts; like-then-pitch gets reported. The depth of the signal should set the depth of your follow-up.
It's not that DMs don't work. It's that you treated a reflex like a yes.
