The lazy 'thoughts?' CTA
Everyone says: "End every post with a question to drive comments."
The claim: any question prompt lifts engagement, so close with 'Agree? Thoughts?'
What's actually true: a question lifts comments only if it's answerable in five seconds without thinking hard. 'Thoughts?' is work — the reader has to invent the frame — so they skip it. The mistake is a question that outsources effort to the audience. Tested fix: ask a binary or fill-in-the-blank: 'Which broke first for you — the funnel or the offer?' or 'Worst onboarding email you've ever gotten: ___'. Constrained prompts get 3-5x the replies of open ones because the reader just reacts, no essay required.
It's not that questions don't work. It's that you asked one nobody could answer fast.
