AdPlexity vs Anstrex: $300/mo of spy tools and what they actually told me
The setup: Entering a new vertical (dating, tier-2 GEOs) blind. Subscribed to both spy tools for one month to pick a direction.
The move: Ran the same query on both — top push ads, last 30 days, my GEOs — and tracked which angles each surfaced, then field-tested the overlap.
The numbers (illustrative): AdPlexity ($199) showed deeper push coverage and more landing-page captures. Anstrex ($120) had a cleaner UI and better native coverage but thinner push data for my GEOs. Of 12 angles I pulled, 9 came from AdPlexity. Two of those scaled to +40% ROI.
The lesson: Spy tools aren't interchangeable — coverage depth varies wildly by traffic type and GEO. Anstrex won native, AdPlexity won push. Subscribing to the wrong one for your source is $120-200 of blindness.
What I'd do differently: I paid for both the first month, which was the right call — but I should've cancelled the loser by day 10 instead of letting it auto-renew. Spy data goes stale; you don't need a year subscription, you need a 30-day reconnaissance burst per vertical.
