Native vs Push: which one dies faster (and why it matters for cashflow)

Native vs Push: which one dies faster (and why it matters for cashflow)

The setup: Same sweepstakes offer, two source types running parallel for 21 days. Taboola-style native vs a push network. $2,000 budget split evenly.

The move: We tracked not just ROI but creative lifespan — how many days until a winning creative's CTR dropped below 50% of its day-1 peak.

The numbers (illustrative): Push winners burned out in ~4 days. CTR went from 1.1% to 0.4% as the same users saw them repeatedly. Native winners held for ~16 days — fresh audience kept rotating in. Push ROI day 1-4 was +60%, then negative. Native sat at a steady +18%.

The lesson: Push is a sprint, native is a jog. Push prints money fast but demands a creative factory — you need 3-4 new angles a week or the account dies. Native rewards patience and one good creative.

What I'd do differently: We staffed native like push — designer cranking variants nobody needed — and starved push of the volume it actually required. Match your creative production rate to the source's burn rate, not the other way around.
