A small blog network found a $5 floor hiding in its config — fixing it added 19%
A floor is the minimum bid you accept. One mistyped floor can quietly kill an entire ad slot.
What happened: a 4-blog network had one ad slot earning almost nothing. Nobody knew why.
The investigation:
1. They read the wrapper config line by line.
2. Found a leftover test floor of $5.00 on that slot — far above any real bid.
3. Every bid fell below it, so the slot showed empty ads.
They reset it to a realistic $0.50.
Result: the slot filled again, and network revenue per thousand views rose 19% from that one slot waking up.
In plain English: one stray high floor can mute a whole slot. Check your config for test values nobody removed.
