A finance blog set country-based floors — US readers earned 18% more
A floor is your minimum bid. Different countries have very different ad values, so one floor for all leaves money on the table.
What happened: a personal-finance blog used a single $0.30 floor. US readers (worth a lot to advertisers) were being sold for the same low minimum as everyone else.
What they did:
1. Set a $1.00 floor for US traffic.
2. Kept $0.20 for low-value regions.
3. Tracked revenue per country for a month.
Result: US revenue per thousand views rose 18%, while low-value regions kept their fill rate.
In plain English: a reader in New York is worth more than one elsewhere. Price each region for what it's actually worth.
