The received wisdom says TikTok detects the CapCut watermark and throttles reach. Everyone believes it because a few creators saw dips after switching and posted screenshots.

Nobody actually tested this with a clean A/B. The watermark theory confuses two things: TikTok demotes reposted content (videos pulled from a CDN with another platform's metadata), not videos you exported clean and uploaded fresh.

What's actually true: CapCut and the native editor produce identical pixels once you export without the end-card. The real variable is the editing itself — native gives you trending sound sync and effect-license safety; CapCut gives you keyframes and speed ramps.

Pick the editor by the cut you need, not by a watermark ghost.
