"Reply to every comment in the first hour to boost the video"
A creator tested the famous "golden hour" rule directly: 25 videos where he replied to every comment within 60 minutes, 25 where he ignored comments entirely for 24 hours. Same posting conditions.
Replied-fast median: 12,100. Ignored median: 12,400. Dead heat.
The golden-hour ritual produced no measurable reach edge. Nobody who preaches it had run the control.
The mechanism: the early-distribution decision is driven by how the first viewer cohort watches, not by your creator-side activity. Your replies happen after those viewers have already swiped or stayed. You're performing a ritual downstream of the decision that already got made.
Reply to comments because community is worth building. Don't reply because you think it bribes the algorithm — it can't reach back in time to change a test that's already running.
