Q: New TikTok Shop listing with zero reviews — does that actually hurt sales, and how much?
A: A gadget seller measured it. Their listing sat at 0 reviews for a week and converted tag-taps at 1.9%. They ran a small sampling push to legitimate buyers and got the listing to 23 reviews at 4.7 stars. Same product, same videos, conversion climbed to 4.1% — more than double.
The number that moved buyers most was crossing past roughly 10-15 reviews; before that, the listing looked untested. After, it looked safe.
Also worth knowing: real verified-buyer reviews only. Fake or incentivized reviews against platform rules can get the whole shop suspended, which costs far more than slow early sales.
