Case study: spotting the word that cost others thousands

Case study: spotting the word that cost others thousands

"In perpetuity" = forever. If usage rights say perpetuity, the brand can run your content for all time, anywhere.

Forever is the most expensive thing you can give. Yet brands slip it in casually.

A tech creator got a $900 offer with "worldwide usage in perpetuity." That's not a $900 deal — that's giving away an asset forever.

He replied: "I work in usage windows. 6 months is included. Perpetuity would be $2,500." The brand switched to a 6-month window and kept the $900 price.

He protected future income and still closed the deal.

The lesson: "perpetuity" should triple your price or get removed.

Your move: search every contract for "perpetuity" and "forever." Flag it before you sign.
