A Twitch streamer's revenue mix, line by line

A Twitch streamer's revenue mix, line by line

Context: a mid-tier Twitch streamer (average 340 concurrent viewers) published a 12-month income breakdown, a rare granular self-report.

Findings (annual, self-reported):
— Subscriptions: $19,400 (41%)
— Bits/cheers: $4,100 (9%)
— Direct sponsorships: $16,800 (35%)
— Affiliate/merch: $7,200 (15%)

What stands out: sponsorships nearly matched subscriptions despite Twitch's sub-centric reputation. The streamer attributed this to securing two recurring monthly sponsor deals at $700 each rather than chasing one-off campaigns.

Caveats: a single streamer at one audience tier; sponsor access scales non-linearly with size, so this mix would look very different at 50 or 3,000 concurrents. Sub revenue is reported net of platform split, sponsorships gross — not strictly comparable. No tax or business-expense netting shown.

Implications: consistent with diversification research showing platform-native revenue (subs/bits) rarely exceeds half of total for established mid-tier creators.

What we still don't know: how the mix shifts through a viewership slump, when sub churn typically outpaces sponsor renewal.
