We tracked unpaid revision time across 15 clients for a month: 41 hours of free edits, mostly from 3 clients who treated rounds as infinite.

We added one clause to every brief and invoice:
— "Includes 2 revision rounds. Round 3+ billed at $75/round. A round = one consolidated note list, returned within 48h."

That last sentence mattered most — it stopped the drip of one-note-at-a-time emails. Over the next month: unpaid revision time fell to 9 hours, and 2 clients paid for a Round 3 ($150 each). Net recovery vs. the prior month: roughly $3,200 in time billed or saved.
