Whitelisting and usage rights: price it as a separate line item
Brands love to slip 'and we'll run it as an ad' into the deliverable. That's a separate product. Treat it as one.
The three usage tiers, priced independently:
— Organic only: the post lives on the creator's feed, no paid spend. Base rate.
— Whitelisting (brand runs ads through the CREATOR's handle): +30–50%, because it's the creator's identity carrying paid spend
— Full usage/repurposing (brand uses the content on their own channels, site, ads): +40%, time-boxed
The rules that protect the creator:
— Always time-box usage (90 days default). Perpetual rights = price it like a buyout, 2–3x.
— Whitelisting needs a defined spend cap and end date in writing
— Specify channels explicitly. 'Repurposing' with no named channels = decline.
The trade you can offer:
If the brand won't pay the usage uplift, shorten the window instead of dropping the fee.
Checklist: usage tier named, priced separately from content, time-boxed, channels listed, spend cap set for whitelisting. Usage is never 'thrown in.'
