The Script Approval Workflow (lock the words before you film)
Filming an unapproved script is how you earn a free reshoot. Route every script through this four-stage gate.
— Stage 1 — Draft: write hook + body + CTA, mark the on-screen text in [brackets].
— Stage 2 — Brand review: client edits in the doc only, one pass, 48h window.
— Stage 3 — Lock: client types "approved" in writing. The locked script is now the spec.
— Stage 4 — Film: shoot only the locked words. Off-script changes after this = new scope.
Rule: no "approved" in writing = no filming. Verbal yes doesn't count.
Save this workflow in your brief template. The locked script is your defense against "we wanted it different." Standardize the gate.
