Stop optimizing average view duration. It's the wrong target entirely.
A 30-minute video at 40% AVD crushes a 5-minute video at 90%, the algorithm cares about absolute minutes delivered into the session, not your percentage trophy. Yet creators keep shrinking videos to protect a vanity number and starve themselves of total watch time.
Short and "high retention" is often just short. Length you can sustain beats brevity you can't.
