Everyone treats orphan pages as a crisis to fix. But half of them are thin, outdated, or commercially dead — and linking to them just bleeds equity into pages you'd be better off pruning.
The knee-jerk "add it to the nav" fix rescues garbage and dilutes your good URLs in the process.
The real audit: orphan a page on purpose if it should be noindexed or merged. Rescue it only if it earns a place in the topical graph.
Controversial but: not every URL deserves a link. Agree or fight me?
