Here's the part everyone forgot: when Google killed nofollow sculpting, equity stopped flowing through the nofollowed link — but it didn't redistribute to your followed links. It evaporated. You leak it into the void.
So nofollowing your "Login" and "Cart" links to "preserve" equity does the opposite of what you think.
Real sculpting today is structural: fewer links per page, links placed higher in the DOM, and not linking junk in the first place. Architecture, not attributes.
Still nofollowing internal links in 2026? Why?
