Everyone negotiates the commission percentage. Wrong lever. Negotiate these instead:
— Cookie window: getting 30 → 90 days moves more money than +5% on the rate.
— Clawback window: shorten it, or cap negative-balance carry-forward.
— Locked rate: get the current % guaranteed against future cuts, in writing.
— Server-side tracking access so you stop leaking attribution.
— Net-15 instead of net-60, or a lower payout threshold.
A program will happily bump your headline rate because they know churn and clawbacks eat it back. The structural terms are what they actually defend — which is exactly why those are worth winning.
Verdict: percentage is the bait. Negotiate the window, the clawback, and the lock.
