Reading a tiered-commission bonus without getting played
Hot reminder: tiered bonuses are designed so you chase a threshold you'll juuust miss. Decode the structure:
— Find the reset period. Monthly resets mean every tier restarts from zero — no compounding.
— Check if the tier counts net sales (after refunds) or gross. Net means a late refund can drop you a tier retroactively.
— Calculate effective rate at YOUR realistic volume, not the top tier.
— Look for "qualified" sale definitions. Trials, downgrades, and free plans usually don't count.
— See whether hitting a tier this month claws back if you don't sustain it.
The headline "up to 50%" is the rate maybe 2% of affiliates ever touch, for one month, before a refund knocks them back down.
Verdict: ignore the top tier. Your rate is the bottom one, minus refunds.
