"High energy always wins" lost me the comparison test
The rule: maximum energy in the hook, big voice, big hands. I cranked it: "OKAY this is INSANE you NEED to see this!!" 3s retention 86%. But average view duration was 13s, and saves were near zero. High energy promised a payoff I couldn't match, so people bailed on the let-down.
I tested a low, almost-whispered open: "I'm not supposed to share this one." Quiet. Conspiratorial.
3s retention 82%, slightly lower. But average view duration hit 26s and saves went 5x.
Views 36k to 94k.
The lesson: high energy is a check the body has to cash. A quiet, secret tone sets a promise you can actually keep, and the watch time proves it.
