The Repeatable Ritual Spec
A ritual is the cheapest retention tool you own — a recurring event members organize their week around. But most are abandoned by week 4 because they were never specified.
Before you launch any recurring ritual, define:
☐ Trigger — same day, same time, every week (e.g. "Wins Friday, 3pm")
☐ Owner — one named person who shows up even if no one else does
☐ Entry prompt — the exact first message that opens it
☐ Minimum viable success — what counts as "it happened" on a slow week
☐ Sunset rule — kill it after 3 consecutive failures, don't let it rot
The ritual that survives is the one that runs identically whether 2 or 200 people show. Consistency beats turnout.
Measure attendance as a percent of active members, not raw count — raw count hides decay.
Save this for your next launch.
