Tested 4 CTA verbs. The boring one won.
Tuesday I A/B/C/D'd a SaaS trial button.
— "Get Started"
— "Start Free Trial"
— "Try It Free"
— "Start Building"
Gut call said "Start Building" (specific, action-y). It lost.
"Start Free Trial" beat everyone by 11%. Why? It killed the price anxiety before the click. The word "Free" did the work, not the verb.
Lesson: the modifier matters more than the verb. People aren't scared to start. They're scared it'll cost them.
— Test the cost/risk word, not just the action word
— "Free" / "No card" / "Instant" beat clever verbs
Go add a risk-killing word to your hero CTA. Report back.
