Myth: "Curiosity-gap headlines always win"
"This one weird trick" got beaten to death and now it underperforms on warm-ish traffic. Trench note: a flat specific headline outpulled my best curiosity hook by a wide margin.
Curiosity gaps attract clicks from people who never intended to buy. Great CTR, garbage conversion. You're paying for tire-kickers.
— Specificity pre-qualifies: "Why your stomach bloats after 40 (and the 6pm fix people are testing)" filters for actual buyers.
— You want the right click, not the most clicks.
Measure CTR-to-conversion, not CTR alone. A curiosity headline with a sky-high CTR and a dead lander is a vanity metric eating your budget. Be specific enough to scare off the wrong reader.
Go test it.
