Google's Consent Mode v2 made advertising and analytics signals contingent on a properly wired consent banner for EEA traffic. No valid consent, no usable data flowing downstream.
That means audience syncs, remarketing, and conversion imports can silently dry up for European visitors when the banner is misconfigured.
What we're hearing: teams treating consent as a legal checkbox got blindsided; teams treating it as a data-pipeline dependency stayed live.
