Google has removed support for some structured data types over time, and stale JSON-LD can still create noise in Search Console. The fix is simple: audit every template, not just the pages that rank.
Clean-up checklist:
• Remove markup for features Google no longer shows, like deprecated Job Posting enhancements, carousel types, and old claim-review patterns.
• Keep only schema that matches visible page content. If the page does not display it, drop it.
• Merge duplicate entities so Product, Organization, and Breadcrumb data do not conflict across plugins or themes.
Then validate the page source, not only the rendered DOM. Check for orphaned @type values, broken required fields, and schema left behind by old CMS modules. If a page has multiple JSON-LD blocks, make sure they tell one consistent story. Conflicting prices, ratings, or dates often block eligibility faster than missing markup.
Best cleanup move: start with your highest-traffic templates, remove dead types in the codebase, and retest in the Rich Results tool after each change.
