Most arbitrageurs skip positioning entirely. They pick a traffic source, find an audience, and blast creatives. Then wonder why CPA keeps climbing and conversion rates collapse.
Positioning isn't a tagline. It's the answer to one question: why should this specific person care about your offer right now? If you can't answer in one sentence, your positioning is broken.
Common mistakes:
— Copying competitor messaging word-for-word. Your audience has seen it. They tune it out.
— Leading with features instead of benefits. "AI-powered" means nothing. "Save 3 hours daily" means everything.
— Speaking to everyone. The broader your positioning, the weaker your message. Narrow down. Pick one pain point, one audience segment.
— Ignoring what your traffic source rewards. A Reddit post needs different positioning than a Google Search ad. Same offer, different angle.
Strong positioning starts before creative. Before landing page. Before you buy a single impression. Sit down. Write what makes your offer different. Not better — different. What do you solve that competitors don't? Who desperately needs it? Why now?
Test your positioning on real people before scaling. If you can't explain it to a friend in thirty seconds without sounding like a pitch, rewrite it. Positioning is your foundation. Build it right, and everything else becomes easier.
