Refreshing ads: free money or a trap?
Ad refresh means swapping in a new ad in the same slot while the visitor stays on the page — a fresh auction every, say, 30 seconds.
Why it matters: done right, a slow reader generates several auctions instead of one. Done wrong (refreshing too fast, or ads they never saw), it annoys buyers and can get you flagged for fake views.
Tiny example: a 3-minute read with a 30-second refresh on a viewed slot = up to 6 auctions instead of 1.
Three safe rules:
— Only refresh ads actually on screen.
— Wait at least 30 seconds between refreshes.
— Only refresh when the tab is active.
In plain English: refreshing earns more only if the visitor really sees each new ad.
