Hot take: auto-generated "related posts" widgets do more harm than good when they're powered by tags or recency instead of topic.
The rebuild:
— Audit what your widget actually links to. Random? Tag-based? Newest? All wrong.
— Switch the logic to topical similarity, same cluster, same pillar.
— Cap it at 3-4 links so equity isn't diluted across 12 weak ones.
— Make sure anchors use the real post title, not a thumbnail with no text.
— Exclude already-ranking pages from feeding equity to dead ones, or you're robbing your winners.
A widget that links 6 unrelated posts is just a relevance solvent.
