Any page deeper than 3 clicks is on life support. Here's how to pull it up.
Click depth is the most ignored ranking lever in linking. The fix is mechanical:
— Crawl and export crawl depth for every URL.
— Flag everything at depth 4 or deeper.
— For each, ask: does this deserve to rank? If yes, it needs a shorter path.
— Add links from depth-1 or depth-2 hubs: category pages, pillar posts, the homepage if it's important enough.
— Re-crawl and confirm the depth dropped.
Pagination is the silent killer here. If your best old post sits on page 9 of a blog feed, it's effectively at depth 9. Curated hub pages fix that overnight.
