— Above-the-fold should paint in under 2s on a mid-tier Android, not your iPhone.
— Defer everything below the fold. The first screen is hook text + one image, that's it.
— Hosted video players are the usual murderer. Lazy-load or kill them.
You're paying for that click whether the page loads or not. A 3s delay can quietly torch a chunk of your traffic before they read word one.
Go test it: throttle your PL to slow 4G in devtools. If your hook isn't visible fast, that's your leak.
