Myth: "My hosting company backs up my site, so I'm covered"
Your host is the company that stores your website on their computers. Many promise backups, and it feels safe to lean on that. Please don't make it your only safety net.
The catch: host backups often live on the same servers as your site, restoring can cost extra or take support tickets, and some hosts only keep them for a few days. If your account gets suspended, you may lose access to the backups too.
What to do instead:
— Run your own backup plugin (a backup is a saved copy you can restore)
— Send copies to a separate place like Google Drive or Dropbox
— Keep at least one backup from a week ago, not just today's
In plain words: treat the host backup as a bonus, never the plan.
