The pre-publish checklist for your first blog post

Before you hit Publish, run down this list in the editor so the post looks finished, not half-baked.

1. One clear title that says what the post is about.
2. A featured image: the thumbnail that represents the post. Set it in the right-hand panel.
3. Headings: break long text with Heading 2 blocks so it's skimmable.
4. A category ticked, so readers can browse related posts.
5. The permalink (the post's web address) shortened to a few keywords.
6. Preview in a new tab to catch typos and broken images.

Only then, Publish.
