The 99.9% uptime myth
They told you: "99.9% uptime guarantee means your site is basically always up."
Run the math nobody wants you to run. 99.9% allows 8 hours 45 minutes of downtime a year — and the SLA only counts continuous outages over 5-10 minutes that you formally report within 24 hours. Brief flaps, scheduled maintenance, DNS, and your own plugins? Excluded.
And the payout? A credit on next month's invoice. Not cash. So they're "insured" with your own money.
Who measures the uptime? They do. Who decides if it counts? Also them.
Reality: an uptime guarantee is a coupon, not a contract.
