<b>"Testimonials build trust." [DEPENDS]</b>

<b>"Testimonials build trust." [DEPENDS]</b>

The myth: paste a wall of five-star quotes and watch credibility climb.

Why it spread: testimonials are free, easy, and feel like proof, so everyone copies the format without copying what made it work.

The boring truth: vague praise ("Great product, highly recommend! — Sarah K.") reads as fabricated and can <i>depress</i> trust with anyone who's seen a fake review. The brain pattern-matches it to spam.

The nuance: specificity is the entire mechanism. A testimonial that names the exact problem, the number, and a real face/company out-converts ten generic ones. "Cut our onboarding from 6 weeks to 9 days" is proof. "Amazing service!" is noise wearing quotation marks. Quote the result, not the adjective.
