Publishing: third-party scheduler vs native platform posting

Publishing: third-party scheduler vs native platform posting

Convenience vs reach. The tradeoff is real and platform-specific.

— Native posting: some platforms quietly favor natively-posted content and allow features (sticker links, certain formats) that schedulers can't push via API. Best for the post you most need to perform.
— Third-party scheduler (Buffer, Later, Metricool): batch a week in 30 minutes, post across platforms, get unified analytics. Cost: occasional API limits, lost native features, and on some platforms a reach penalty for API-posted content.

Decision rule:
— If a post carries your highest-value affiliate link then post it natively to keep every feature and any reach edge.
— If it's volume/filler content keeping the calendar full then schedule it — your time is worth more than marginal reach.
— If the format needs a feature the API doesn't support (Story link sticker) then native, always.

Checklist: high-value posts flagged "native," everything else batched, scheduler analytics reconciled with native insights monthly.

Definition of done: money posts go native, calendar-fillers go scheduled, and you know which is which before you write them.
