Pricing approach: fixed rate card vs custom quote per deal
How you price changes your speed and your ceiling.
— Fixed rate card: publish set prices per deliverable. Fast, filters tire-kickers, anchors the brand. But it caps your upside on big budgets and undersells unique fits.
— Custom quote: price each deal to the brand's budget and your fit. Higher ceiling, but slow, and you'll lowball yourself without a floor.
The system: use both.
— Publish a rate card as the floor and qualifier.
— Quote custom above the card when scope, exclusivity, or usage rights expand.
Decision rule:
— If inbound volume is high and you're drowning in "what's your rate" then a public card saves hours.
— If a deal includes whitelisting, usage rights, or exclusivity then always custom — those are separate line items, never folded into the base post price.
Rate card checklist: per-platform base, usage-rights add-on, exclusivity add-on, rush add-on.
Definition of done: standard deals self-serve off the card; complex deals get itemized quotes.
