Get into the image pack

Today's lesson: an image pack — that row or block of photos that shows up inside regular search results — sends free visitors to pages with well-labeled images.

Picture a search for "banana bread" sprouting a strip of tasty photos. One of those could be yours.

Follow this checklist:
1. Name your image file with real words before uploading (banana-bread-loaf.jpg, not IMG_4471.jpg).
2. Write alt text — the short text description Google reads — describing exactly what's in the photo, 8-12 words.
3. Place the image near matching heading text on the page, so the words around it agree.

Google leans heavily on the file name, alt text, and surrounding words to decide which images deserve the pack.
