Catching the host that edits its own scoreboard
Word is a few status pages got quietly 'optimized' after their parent companies changed. If you trust their dashboard, you're trusting marketing. The independent-monitoring setup:
— Run external checks from at least two regions, not just your office.
— Monitor a real transaction path, not a static health endpoint they whitelist.
— Log it yourself so 'our status page showed green' doesn't end the argument.
— Alert on latency creep, not only hard down.
— Keep ninety days of history for the renewal conversation.
A source tells us post-acquisition status pages get more generous with the word 'operational.'
Watch this: your own logs are the only uptime number that survives a billing dispute.
